Paris to Giverny — Private Transfer 2026

Seventy-five kilometres northwest of Paris, in a village with no railway station, Claude Monet spent 43 years creating the most famous garden in France. The Japanese Bridge. The Water Lily Pond. The Clos Normand with its climbing roses and nasturtium paths. The pink house with green shutters where he lived, ate, collected Japanese prints, and painted the same water more than 250 times.

Getting there from Paris takes 1 hour 15 minutes by private transfer. Your Luxberri driver comes to your hotel door. The A13 motorway carries you northwest. And when you arrive at 84 Rue Claude Monet, Giverny — there is no group to follow, no bus schedule to meet, and no tour guide to keep up with. Just the garden, at your own pace.

What You Will See at Giverny

The Clos Normand
Monet designed this flower garden between the entrance gate and the house as a living painting. The Grande Allée — the central path beneath iron arches covered in climbing roses — leads from the gate to the house steps. On either side: poppies, peonies, geraniums, salvias, and dozens of other species planted in colour groups designed as Monet would compose a canvas. Every season brings a different palette.

The Maison de Monet
The long pink house with green shutters is exactly as Monet left it in 1926. The Yellow Dining Room — vivid yellow walls covered in Ukiyo-e Japanese woodblock prints by Hiroshige, Hokusai, and Utamaro — is the most famous interior. The kitchen with its blue Delft tiles. The first-floor studio. A 20-minute visit that contextualises everything you will see in the Water Garden.

The Water Garden
A tunnel beneath the Rue Claude Monet leads to what Monet built in 1893 — the pond he created by diverting the Epte river, the Japanese Bridge, the weeping willows, and the water lilies that became the Nymphéas series. He painted this garden for 30 years. The Water Lilies at the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris are the culmination. Standing at the bridge with the reflections in the water below is the experience those paintings come from.

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes from central Paris hotels via the A13 motorway. The Marais and western arrondissements (8th) are the fastest Paris departure points.

Yes — strongly recommended from May to September. Tickets at fondation-monet.com. Your Luxberri driver can advise on the best entry slot to match your Paris departure time.

Will my driver wait at Giverny?
Yes. Your driver waits in the car park opposite the Fondation entrance for the entire duration of your visit — 2 hours or 5 hours. No time limit. No additional charge.

Is a private transfer worth it over a group tour?
For families of 3+ or couples visiting in peak season (May–September), the per-person cost of a Luxberri transfer is comparable to group tour ticket prices — with hotel door pickup, no schedule pressure, and no 40-person group following the same path.

Yes. 2.5 hours covers the Clos Normand, the house, and the Water Garden at a relaxed pace. The full-day option adds the Musée des Impressionnismes, lunch at Le Jardin des Plumes, and a second Water Garden visit in afternoon light.
