Many flights into Paris Charles de Gaulle land late at night or very early in the morning. Long-haul flights from North America often arrive between 6 and 8 am, while evening departures from the Middle East and Asia can land after 10 pm. Delays push even more arrivals past midnight. These are exactly the hours when public transport thins out or stops. If you land late, you need a plan to get to Paris before you leave the aircraft. This guide covers late night and early morning CDG arrivals: what still runs, what it costs in time and comfort, and how to get to Paris after the trains stop.

When do the trains stop at CDG?

The RER B suburban train connects CDG to Gare du Nord, Châtelet and the Left Bank. The first trains leave the airport at around 5 am. But until 11 December 2026, on most weeknights and some weekends, maintenance work closes the line between Châtelet–Les Halles and CDG from 22:45. After that time, travellers must take metro line 4 to Gare du Nord and then a replacement bus to the airport, which takes far longer than the train. Check the RER B works calendar for your date.

The TGV station at Terminal 2 serves other French cities, not central Paris. The Roissybus coach service has stopped, and the direct CDG Express rail link to Gare de l'Est is still under construction. In practice, once the last RER B has gone, rail is no longer an option.

Night buses: the slow option

The Noctilien night bus network fills the gap. Lines such as N140 and N143 link CDG to Gare de l'Est and Gare du Nord through the northern suburbs. They are cheap but slow, with many stops, and can take well over an hour. There's limited space for large suitcases, and after a long flight a night bus through the suburbs is not most travellers' idea of a welcome to Paris.

Taxis late at night

Official Paris taxis run around the clock from CDG, and the flat fare (€56 to the Right Bank, €65 to the Left Bank) applies at night too, with no surcharge. After midnight, the rank is usually shorter than at peak times, but when several delayed long-haul flights land together, queues build quickly. Taxis are mostly sedans; groups with luggage may need two.

Ride-hailing apps after midnight

Uber and similar apps work at night, but prices often rise late in the evening when fewer drivers are available. Pickup zones are in the car parks, so you'll walk with your bags through quiet parking areas. If your phone battery is low or you have no data, ordering becomes difficult.

Why travellers book a chauffeur for late arrivals

A pre-booked chauffeur solves the three biggest late-night problems: uncertainty, waiting and the last walk to your door.

  • No decisions when you're tired. Your driver tracks the flight and is waiting at your terminal exit with a name sign, even if you land two hours late.
  • One fixed price. No night surcharges, no surge pricing and no meter running in traffic.
  • Help with luggage. The chauffeur takes the trolley and walks you to the car.
  • Door to door. Many Paris hotels have quiet side streets and night doors with a bell. Your driver waits until you're inside.
  • Space for everyone. A Mercedes V-Class takes up to seven passengers with luggage, so families and groups travel together.

Luxberri operates 24 hours a day, so a 1 am or 5 am pickup is booked the same way as a midday one.

Early-morning departures from Paris

The same problem exists in reverse. For an international flight at 7 am, you should be at CDG by about 5 am. The first RER B trains won't get you there in time, and finding a taxi in a residential street at 4 am can be difficult.

Book a chauffeur pickup between 3:45 and 4:15 am from central Paris. At that hour the roads are empty and the drive takes about 30 to 40 minutes. For a 6 am flight from Terminal 2E, many travellers choose 3:30 am. Your driver confirms the pickup the evening before and waits outside the hotel.

Tips for a smooth late-night arrival

  1. Share your flight number when booking, not just the scheduled time.
  2. Keep your phone charged and save the driver's number before you fly.
  3. Tell your hotel you're arriving late so the night porter expects you.
  4. If you're staying near CDG for an early connection the next day, book one of the luxury hotels near the airport and a short transfer instead.
  5. Check Luxberri's current deals for fixed prices on CDG routes.

Staying near CDG instead of driving into Paris

Sometimes the smartest late-night plan is not to go into Paris at all. If you land after midnight and have an early meeting at a business park north of Paris, or a connecting flight the next morning, a hotel at the airport or in nearby Roissy can make more sense. Several upscale hotels sit within a few minutes of the terminals, and a short chauffeur transfer avoids waiting for hotel shuttle buses at night. The next morning, your driver can collect you from the hotel for the drive into Paris once rush hour has eased, usually after 9:30 am, which can cut the journey time considerably.

If your flight is diverted or cancelled at night

Late flights are the ones most likely to be delayed beyond midnight, diverted to another airport or cancelled. If your flight is diverted to Orly or Beauvais, contact your chauffeur as soon as you land: they can usually redirect the pickup. If the flight is cancelled and rebooked for the next day, let the driver know so the booking can be moved rather than lost. Keeping your booking confirmation and the driver's number on your phone, rather than only in an email, makes this much easier when you're tired and travelling at night.
